Allyson Fernandez

Our #GLBride of the week is Allyson Fernandez. Lovely Allyson married her husband last June in a custom GALA 912. We asked Allyson to share with us some of her favorite bridal moments and the story behind her customized Galia Lahav gown.

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.
My husband and I met through mutual friends! We were at a friend’s birthday and that’s where we hit it off.

How did he propose?
He planned a secret trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming (I had been wanting to go there.) We stayed at the beautiful Amangani and he planned a private dinner overlooking the Grand Tetons and proposed there! June 23, 2017.

Where was your wedding?
We got married in St. Patrick’s Cathedral and our reception was at the New York Public Library on June 9, 2018.

What was the theme? Did it require special planning? Share with us.
I just really wanted everything to be white and super elegant. I let the planners really run away with their ideas. They’re the professionals!

Where did you purchase the dress?
Bridal Reflections New York.

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?
I loved everything about it and my experience, they easily took our idea and made it happen.

How did you find your perfect dress? And how did you decide to buy it?
I always loved the Galia Lahav dresses, but I was having some difficulty picking the perfect one. I wasn’t in love with how I filled out the bodice of the couture line, but I knew I wanted the dramatic train. Our wedding planners (Strawberry Milk Events) were with me and had this idea to take the top of one of the Gala dresses and the train of one of the Galia Lahav Couture. In the end, we put those two pieces together for the perfect custom gown.

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?
I really just enjoyed seeing how all of the ideas came together.

What advice would you give to all our future GL brides?
Just remain calm, once you put on the perfect dress you’ll know!

Was your wedding the way you dreamed it?
Yes of course! Everything and more!
