Rebecca's Magical NYC Wedding

Meet Rebecca, our GL Bride of the Week, who fell in love with our stunning Utopia gown for her magical NYC wedding. Set against the iconic backdrop of New York City, Rebecca’s celebration was nothing short of enchanting. Join us as we take a closer look at Rebecca’s unforgettable wedding and the gown that brought her bridal vision to life.

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?
A moment I'll never forget from our wedding day was walking around Central Park with my family and bridal party. The joy and excitement from all the passersby congratulating us and clapping made it feel so magical. Adding the vintage checkered taxi cab was the perfect touch—it truly captured the essence of NYC and made the day even more unforgettable.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
One thing I wish I knew as a new bride is just how much goes into wedding planning. There are so many moving parts that no one really talks about until you're in the thick of it. Decision fatigue is very real! My advice to future brides is to trust your instincts—make a decision, stick to it, and keep moving forward. Remember, it's all part of the process, and in the end, it will come together beautifully!

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?
A special detail that made our wedding unique was our choice of red roses as the main flower. The venue already had a rich red palette, so we leaned into those colors with our floral and decor. It created a romantic and timeless ambiance, almost like stepping into a scene from Beauty and the Beast!

How did you know your dress was 'the one'? I knew my dress was the one because it made me feel like a true bride! I initially thought I wanted a form-fitting, long-sleeve style, but the moment I tried on the Utopia dress, everything changed. Its dramatic yet lightweight design felt perfect and matched the vibe of our venue beautifully—it was everything I didn’t know I was looking for!

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress? When I put on my wedding dress, it felt absolutely perfect—it all came together beautifully with my hair and makeup. Everyone's reaction was amazing! I had originally planned to change into a second dress for the reception, but I loved my gown so much that I ended up wearing it all night. I've decided to save the reception dress for my honeymoon in December instead!

Would you have done anything differently? We reserved the first three rows during the ceremony for bridal parties and family, however we only needed the first 2 rows and the 3rd row ended up being empty. Not a big deal but that would be my one thing!

What was your favorite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?
There were so many aspects of the wedding I loved planning, but I was especially proud of our dessert table! As someone with a serious sweet tooth, it felt so fitting to go all out with a variety of desserts, accented with red roses to tie into our theme. Another favorite detail was the oversized heads of my husband and I that I ordered from Etsy—they made an appearance during the reception and were a total hit with our guests!

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
I met my husband at a bar in the west village called The Brooklyneer right before the pandemic but then once covid hit we didn't speak until August 2021 when he DM'd me on Instagram to get drinks and catch up. He proposed May 2023 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. It was a complete shock, I was in athleisure wear but at least I had my nails done.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
AMAZING! By far the best bridal studio aesthetic-wise with a full bar. My stylist Amy at the Soho NY location was amazing! And I bought my dress during the trunk show and met Galia herself and she took my measurements! I felt like she was my fairy godmother, the sweetest woman!!!

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
I went to 4 locations! So quite a few dresses and I definitely started to get dress fatigue but my heart kept going back to the Utopia gown.
