Sydney's Gorgeous Estate Wedding

Introducing this week's GL Bride, Sydney Grant, who looked stunning in our Parisian-inspired Opéra gown from the L'Étoile Collection.

"Every aspect of the wedding was a dream."

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?
I stood under the chuppah with my husband. A singer performed a Hebrew song called “Im Eshkachech Yerushalayim” right before my husband stepped on a piece of glass, a Jewish tradition to conclude the wedding ceremony. It was such a meaningful moment and so special to have all of our family and friends surrounding us.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
Hire a bridal attendant! I was fortunate that my wedding venue provided someone for the wedding day. Her name was Joy Cobias and she was a dream! She ensured every aspect of the day ran smoothly and was stress-free. She bustled my dress in record timing, made sure I was fed and hydrated, and reapplied my lip gloss throughout the night!

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?
I was convinced I wanted to wear either a simple silk dress or a dress with appliqués. I was so happy that Saymon from the Galia Lahav team in Tel Aviv suggested I try on something out of my comfort zone- an all-lace dress! I immediately fell in love with the Opera dress- from the drop waist to the pattern. I did not want to take it off, that’s how I knew it was the one!

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?
I felt glamorous, confident, and above all comfortable! I had not shown anyone the dress before the wedding so it was exciting to see everyone’s reactions. People kept noting how regal it looked— I definitely agree!

What was your favorite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?
Every aspect of the wedding was a dream! From designing a custom ketubah inspired by the dress’s lace pattern to watching our parents’ reactions to our hard work.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
One night I went bowling with my sister and her friends. My sister mentioned to her friend that she wanted to set me up with someone and he suggested his roommate. Our first date took place a week later, and a year and a half later he proposed in Paris!

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
Collaborating with the incredible teams at Galia Lahav in Tel Aviv and New York was seamless! During an April visit to Israel, I went to the Tel Aviv boutique hoping to find my dream dress. There I met the most talented and dedicated team- Saymon, Qamai, Gal, and Dar.

I fell in love with the Opera dress and the team worked tirelessly to tailor the dress to fit me and even custom-make a matching bolero within my tight timeframe. They went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate to meet Galia herself and receive her personal stamp of approval. The final fitting at the New York location was equally seamless with an accommodating and supportive staff.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
I tried on at least 12 dresses at 5 different bridal boutiques before I found the Opera.

"I felt glamorous, confident, and above all comfortable!"
