From Aisle to Style: The Perfect Shoes for Your Dream Galia Lahav Gown

Choosing the perfect gown, as some brides might tell you, can feel as daunting as finding the perfect partner. From the neckline to the train length to the fabric and the sleeve style, finally landing on your Big Day look is nothing short of impressive. But once you’ve chosen your dream dress, usually the question of the shoe comes next—after all, Cinderella would have no fairytale ending without her slipper.

While perhaps not nearly as intimidating as saying yes to the dress, matching the heels to your gown has its own set of challenges. You don’t want the fabrics to clash, for example, and depending on the gown, you might want something that either stands out, or, on the contrary, “disappears” into your look. To answer some of the most commonly asked questions about pairing your shoes to your wedding gown, we’ve rounded up five gorgeous Galia Lahav styles from the latest collection to walk you through how to find the right shoe.

Majestic

Galia Lahav’s Majestic gown, crafted from luxurious corded French lace is nothing short of, well, majestic. Featuring a matching bolero and dramatic skirt, the gown is practically fit for royalty. With such a statement dress, the last thing you want is to distract from its beauty, so opt for a nude, barely-there heel, something that will simply blend right in. Given the weight of the train, you also want to make sure you can walk gracefully down the aisle, so a block heel could also be recommended as you likely won’t see any of your feet underneath this grand silhouette.

Evangeline - Galia Lahav

Flirty, flattering and oh-so-sexy, the sheer dress is definitely having a moment if celebrity red carpet looks are anything to go by. The Evangeline dress, which features an elongated mermaid skirt and corseted top gives off a distinctive romanticism, so make sure your shoes lean into its baroque vibe. A lovely lace kitten heel could round out the whole look, as long as the lace matches the gown, or, to err on the safe side, opt for white pumps to pick up the delicate lace details. As for the height, you want the front of the dress to puddle just a few centimetres in front of your toes, so that you don’t trip over as you glide past your guests.

Fortuna

We love an Angelina Jolie moment and the Fortuna dress offers just that, giving off ample elegance with a dash of sexiness through the high slit. A daring split at the thigh also means your shoes will be on full display. This is your chance to go bold with your heels, especially with a pair of wraparound sandals, maybe with some embellishments that echo the appliqués on the gown. Make sure the lace-up details end just above the calf or just under to create the most flattering silhouette.

Duchess - Galia Lahav

You can’t go wrong with a classic, silk ballgown. After all, nothing says Old Hollywood like a graceful A-lined skirt with a corseted top like the Duchess gown. When it comes to choosing the perfect shoe, make sure the fabrics and the whites match the colour of the dress—you don’t want a cream-coloured shoe to clash with your stark white dress for example. Then opt for a pointy kitten heel, maybe even with a small jewel detail at the front so that they glisten as your dress shuffles around your feet.

Raphaella - Galia Lahav

Non-white gowns are all the rage, with some modern brides even opting for black or blue. If you’re up for a little colour for your Big Day, the stunning Raphaella gown in powder pink is for you, made with the finest silk and draped to perfection—talk about a blushing bride! Rather than trying too hard to match the pink, a white satin heel, maybe even with a crystal detail, could brighten up the look and even pick up on the subtle shimmer from the gown. For this particular style we would avoid lace or cream-coloured shoes, but ultimately there are no hard and fast rules to dressing for your wedding day. As long as you feel comfortable and confident, you will look radiant no matter what shoes take you to the altar.
